Cooling liquid boiling?

  • Hi,
Yesterday, after driving for about 30 Km's I arrived home, and there was a "boiling" sound coming from my engine. The sound was coming from the cooling liquid container. Engine felt hot, but the cooler (Radiator) was warm not hot. There was no steam of very hot air coming from the Cooling liquid container. The temperature gauge in the car was normal. This morning I added 1.5 liter of water to the cooling liquid container. There are no visible leaks. Any idea what is wrong with it? Thermostate valve broken, or.....????

  • it sounds like the headgasket is broken. you should drive to a garage and check it. they can check if exhaust gases are in the cooling liquid container

Damn, I hoped it wasn't that, but think so to... strange thing is, after 130 KM today some bubbles out of the liquid water container, after a couple of hours I drove back 130 KM, no bubbles... It only happens sometimes.... and the car doesn't lose any cooling liquid... Oil level is also the same after 260Km.

Any cheap shops where i can order a new head gasket in holland or west germany (in the neigbourhood of Winterswijk) I can replace it myself.

    Thanks!
